Human beings are amazing creatures.
We haven't yet found a limit to the things we are able to achieve. Both individually and collectively.
It's just a matter of time, effort ... and a third thing.
Because human beings are also mysterious creatures. There's so much about us that is hidden that it's hard to know exactly what we should do with ourselves
This takes wisdom and an understanding of the big picture. Not just the data.
If someone was able to give us a manual so that we could have a big picture understanding of the inner workings of human beings, we would have a better idea of where to put our time and effort so it isn't wasted chasing the wrong things.
I have spent a number of years studying and experimenting with the principles of how human beings work.
I have worked one-to-one with clients and learnt from the best sources on the inner workings of human beings and I have put together everything I have learned into a framework that can be taught so you can achieve great things with your time and effort.
Because you will also have the wisdom and the understanding that comes from seeing the big picture.
This series of videos is your manual on how human beings work.
We will talk about the underlying mechanisms of how we think the things we think, do the things we do, and feel the things we feel. And then also how those mechanisms are tightly linked together to create integrated complicated amazing human beings like you, with apparently limitless potential!

1. THINKING
WHAT YOU KNOW AND WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW.

There are some things you know.
But there are always more things you don’t know.
Because sometimes even the things we know can become outdated as things change, or they could turn out to have been false all along, or they can just stop being useful.
Then there are things you don’t know.
Sometimes the things you don’t know can get in your way, or maybe they could fill in the gaps in your current knowledge, or just be more useful than what you know already.
So we need to be able to think in ways that can make use of what we already know.
But we also need to be able to think in ways that can make sense of what we don’t know. We do this with two different types of thinking.
One is for applying old knowledge and the other is for discovering new knowledge.
There are many different types of action.
But each of us only know how to do a limited range of actions.
This limited range of actions is your ability: all of the things you already know about.
But how do you choose what to do next out of all the things you know?
In life, obstacles get in the way of what you want, and those obstacles force you to take appropriate action.
When you face these obstacles, you are presented with a challenge that must be met so that you can get what you want.
When this happens, you use Flow Thinking to know what to action to take next.
If the appropriate action is already within your ability, Flow Thinking is used to recall that knowledge and immediately apply it to the challenge.
When we use Flow Thinking our attention is focussed on the present challenge so it can be met with appropriate action at the exact moment it is needed.
The more a challenge demands from your ability, the more you need to use Flow Thinking to meet it with appropriate action.
When a challenge meets your ability continually, and knowledge is recalled and applied over and over, you enter a Flow State.
In a Flow State you become so focussed on meeting the present challenge with action that you become unaware of what is going on around you.
However, sometimes a challenge is greater than your ability.
Flow Thinking will not help you if you don’t already know what to do when an obstacle gets in your way.
It’s too hard.
And then again, sometimes your ability is greater than the challenge.
Flow Thinking will not help you to know what to do next if there is nothing in the way of what you want.
It’s too easy.
And so when you stop taking action - When you stop applying your old knowledge - Flow Thinking stops and a different kind of thinking takes over.
Instead of focussing on the present challenge and being unaware everything else, to discover new knowledge, you must let your attention become unfocussed to see the things you have been ignoring.
You do this with Dream Thinking.
You have taken in information, but have not yet made sense of it.
And so all of the new ideas, images, and details remain in the back of your mind for a time, so that they can be arranged into something you can understand, know and apply.
When your attention isn’t focussed on challenges that demand immediate action, you use Dream Thinking to randomly arrange and rearrange information to discover where it overlaps and joins.
Eventually, after many random arrangements have been made, a picture is created.
This picture, is then simplified and the details that do not fit into the picture are forgotten, leaving a rough picture that can be quickly recalled and applied to challenges when they arise.
The less action you take in the present, the more you are able to use Dream Thinking to arrange and simplify the information you have taken in before it gets forgotten.
When present challenges are removed completely, and no immediate action is needed, your attention becomes completely unfocussed and you enter a Dream State.
In a Dream State you become so unfocussed that you become unaware of what is going on around you.
Flow Thinking is for what you know.
It is used to recall and apply appropriate action for present challenges.
Dream thinking is for what you don’t know.
It is used to arrange and rearrange information to create rough pictures that can be quickly understood and applied.
A PICTURE OF YOURSELF.

The things you know are rough pictures that can be quickly recalled and applied to challenges.
These pictures are based on the information that you have taken in.
They don’t actually represent the world, but your reaction to it.
What you know is how light has affected your eyes, and how sound has affected your ears, how objects have affected the nerves in your skin.
What you have is rough pictures of yourself.
It is these pictures of yourself that you apply to the challenges you face.
Now the complicated thing about this is, when you draw a picture of yourself, you have to draw everything, including the picture you are drawing.
And then the picture has to include all of that.
And so there is a repeating process of redrawing yourself, that continues until you run out of time, energy, or capacity.
Through this process, you can interpret the information that you have taken in.
This allows you to make better decisions by constantly evaluating and reevaluating your own interpretations.
But this also means that the first few drawings quickly become too rough and small to be easily seen.
Only the interpretation is immediately available.
Another way to say this is that we are self-aware, and conscious of our own thoughts but the knowledge those thoughts are based on, is hidden in your subconscious.
PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE.

You are conscious of our own thoughts which are interpretations of the way the world has affected you.
By continuing to interpret and reinterpret the information that you have taken in, you can build a picture of yourself in the past, the present and the future.
With these three images, you can make better decisions about what to do next.
First, you use memories of the past to tell you where you are starting from.
By interpreting those memories, you can make predictions about what to expect in the future.
By interpreting those memories and expectations together, you form intentions for what you will do in the present. Your thoughts, therefore, fall into three categories:
Memories, expectations and intentions.
Your past self is where you begin.
You know where you already are because of your memories.
However, you cannot stay where you already are.
Over time, everything breaks down, and moves out of alignment in all different directions, losing structure, integrity, pattern, and uniformity.
You cannot live in the past because the past is gone as soon as it has been remembered.
You must move from where you already are, because if you don’t, everything will break apart until eventually, you die.
This constant breaking apart of all things means your past self is a dead mess.
To stop this dead mess from happening, you must move towards things that give you life.
Your future self is where you end up.
You know where you want to go because of your expectations.
However, you must move towards something you want or you can expect something you don’t.
To stop everything breaking down, you want things to move into alignment over time, finding structure, integrity, pattern, uniformity, and a single unified direction.
Life is found in the future because the future is the only place you can bring things together even as they break apart.
You must move towards life because if you don’t, everything will fall apart until eventually, you die.
This constant desire to bring things together means your future self is a perfect alignment.
To bring this perfect alignment into existence, you must move towards things that give you life.
Your present self is where you take action.
You know what to do because of your intentions.
However, your intentions are specifically selected to change you from your past self into your future self.
To stop everything breaking apart, you must take the actions that transform you from being a dead mess to become a perfect alignment.
This change is made in the present because you can’t do anything in the future and you can’t do anything in the past.
To move, you must go through change.
Without this necessary transformation, everything will fall apart until eventually, you die.
The constant gap between your past self and future self means your present self must constantly go through change.
To move from death to life, you must go through change.

A RIDER ON AN ELEPHANT.
WATCH THE VIDEO
READ THE TRANSCRIPT
Your Thinking operates like a rider on an elephant.
Your thoughts give direction and encouragement to move from where you already are to where you want to go.
But your thoughts are not the only thing controlling your actions.
Other factors are at play.
If the elephant gets scared or distracted or hungry or tired, and wants to go in a different direction, the rider is virtually powerless to stop it.
However, the rider is not always immediately aware of this lack of control.
So when the elephant goes its own way, the rider has to tell a story to make sense of what is going on.
“I must have gone this way on purpose,” says the rider... and invents a believable narrative to explain the movements of the elephant.
Some of the rider’s story is based on facts, but much of the story is based on conjecture, assumptions, and guesswork.
There is information coming in, but the story is only an interpretation of that information.
And so your thoughts can easily develop unintentional biases, mistakes and distortions.
However, these stories are your thoughts.
You use them to give yourself direction and encouragement.
To move yourself from A to B, taking you from where you are to where you want to be.
Like in all stories, there is a beginning, a middle and an end.
You begin the story in the past, you move through middle of the story in the present, and the end of the story is somewhere in the future.
From a dead mess, through change, towards a perfect alignment.
These are the stories you tell yourself.
And these stories are your thoughts.
A FUNDAMENTAL MODEL OF HUMAN THOUGHT.

READ THE TRANSCRIPT
Thinking gives us direction and encouragement to move by creating stories that begin in the past and take us towards what we want in the future.
We build these stories with dream thinking and flow thinking, interpreting and applying the information that we take in.
The story begins where we already are, breaking apart into a dead mess.
Our memories of a past which is gone tell us who we are.
However, the story ends where we want to be, bringing things together into a perfect alignment.
Our expectations of the future allow us to decide where we want to end up.
Therefore the middle of the story is how we get from where we are to where we want to be, transforming ourselves through action.
Our intentions to go through change move us to get what we want.
When we know what to do, we use Flow thinking to apply appropriate action, meeting the challenge with our ability.
When we don’t know what to do, we use Dream thinking to arrange and simplify the information you have taken in.
From the darkness through the tunnel into the light.
From death, through transformation, to life.
From the ground, up the stairway, to heaven.
This is the fundamental model of all human thought.
2. DOING
SUBJECTIVE AND OBJECTIVE.

READ THE TRANSCRIPT
When you talk about a person doing something there is always a subject, a verb and an object.
The subject is the one doing the action, the verb is the action which is being done, and the object is what the action is being done to.
The subject verbs the object.
The cat sat on the mat.
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
She sells seashells.
But when you move your body, you are both the subject and the object of the action.
The way we use language to describe our actions allows us to make a useful distinction between your self and your body.
You are the subject that has thoughts, Memories, Intentions, and Expectations that give you direction.
You are also the object that gets moved.
You can talk about your self and your thoughts subjectively and you can talk about your body and your actions objectively.
They are both you, but you can talk about your subjective self and your objective body as if they are two different things.

To stop this from happening, you must take appropriate action to bring things together.
Your body is capable of many different types of action.
But every single action you take requires the use of your muscles.
Muscles make up the majority of the lean mass of your body and they join together to pull your body into position.
Firstly, your muscles create strength and integrity by holding your body in tension.
Like a suspension bridge, the stability of your body is not dependent on the ground beneath it, but on its connections being pulled together.
Secondly, your muscles create movement by pulling across your joints.
Even when you are pushing, your muscles are pulling.
By pulling across many joints in many combinations and sequences, many movements can be brought together into many different types of action.
As your body breaks apart and gets pulled down to the ground by gravity, muscles bring you together and hold you up, moving you towards things that give you life.
Every action you take requires the movement of your muscles.

ENERGY.
WATCH THE VIDEO
READ THE TRANSCRIPT
When things are brought together, energy is bound up in the alignment that is created.
When things break apart, that energy is released and dispersed in all directions.
To stay alive, your body must gather energy up and use it to move things into alignment.
In all living things, energy is bound up through this process of bringing things together into alignment.
Energy moves through your body like water moves through a leaky bucket.
You need to keep filling a leaky bucket with water because it is constantly draining away.
However, a leaky bucket can be filled much more quickly than it can be drained.
Similarly, as your body moves, energy is constantly being spent so you need to keep taking energy in.
However, energy can be taken in much faster than it can be can be spent moving your body into alignment.
You get energy by eating food and absorbing some of that food into your body.
The food you absorb contains carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
These are broken apart by your body to release and take in some of the energy bound up in the food you eat.
This energy is then used to move your body into alignment.
As your body moves, the energy is released and dispersed out of your body.
Most of the energy is used to hold you together and keep you in the same place, moving your body back into alignment even as it breaks apart.
Only a relatively small portion of the energy is used to take action and move your body through change to a new position.
Sometimes the energy you are taking in is greater than the energy you are spending and there is an energy surplus in your body.
Sometimes the energy you are spending is greater than the energy you are taking in and there is an energy deficit in your body.
So there needs to be a buffer where excess energy can be bound up and stored when there is too much coming in and then released when there isn’t enough.
Some energy is stored in your body as glycogen, some is stored as lean mass, and some is stored as adipose.
Glycogen is for storing and releasing energy very quickly and is mostly made from carbohydrates.
Lean mass is for storing and releasing energy very slowly and is mostly made from proteins.
Glycogen is stored inside the lean mass of your body.
Therefore, glycogen and lean mass have a proportional relationship.
If your body has more lean mass, you have more room to store energy as glycogen.
Adipose is for storing and releasing energy slower than with glycogen but faster than with lean mass.
It is mostly made from fats. Your capacity to store energy as adipose is functionally infinite.
As long as you are still alive, you always have room to store more energy as adipose.
To stay alive, your body must gather energy up and use it to move things into alignment.
If you don’t do this, your whole body will break apart until eventually, you die.
However, you cannot bring things into alignment without breaking something apart because to move things into alignment, you need energy.
You can get this energy by breaking apart carbohydrates, proteins and fats from your food or you can get this energy by breaking apart glycogen, lean mass, and adipose from your own body.
This energy is mostly used to keep your body the same, but a small portion is used to take action and move through change.
BUILDING AND BURNING.

Energy is released when the structure, integrity, pattern and uniformity of things is broken apart.
Like when you set a branch of wood on fire, as the branch burns, it breaks apart, and energy is released in the form of heat and light.
If the wood continues to burn, the whole branch will eventually completely break apart into ashes and dust that cannot be put back together.
In the same way, energy is released by breaking apart the Carbohydrates, Fats, and Proteins that are found in your food and stored in your own body.
But also, in all living things, energy is bound up when the structure, integrity, pattern and uniformity of things is brought together.
Like when you build a wall from a pile of bricks, as the wall is built, the pile of bricks is brought together, and energy is bound up into the form of a useful construction.
If the wall continues to be built, the whole pile of bricks will eventually be completely put together into a construction that cannot be broken apart.
In the same way, energy is bound up by bringing together the carbohydrates, fats, and proteins that are found in your food and storing them in your own body.
Like the branch that does not turn to ash when it burns but grows back because it is alive, your body is able to bring things together into alignment, building things into a useful construction even as they break apart.
Your body both builds, and burns at the same time.
Building up what is useful, and burning away everything else.
Where there is more building than burning, your body will grow.
Where there is more burning than building, your body will break down.
Where building and burning are the same, your body stays the same.
Your body both builds, and burns at the same time.

Like all living things, your body has the ability to withstand being broken apart.
This is because you can build your body up so that it doesn’t get completely broken down and burnt to ash.
When a part of your body breaks apart from where it was, your body reacts, and a correction is made to build that part of your body back together.
But rather than just building up to the same position as before, your body makes an overcorrection by building up more than it is breaking down.
When this happens, your body grows, bringing things into alignment, and building up against the things that break it down.
If something is breaking apart quickly, your body reacts quickly.
If it is breaking apart slowly, your body reacts slowly.
Like all living things, your body has the ability to withstand being broken apart.

When this happens, your body grows, bringing things into alignment, and building up against the things that break it down.
If something is breaking apart quickly, your body reacts quickly.
If it is breaking apart slowly, your body reacts slowly.
This is how your body responds to demand and adapts to withstand the things that break it apart, prioritising the building of things in response to the rate at which they are being broken down.
However, when a part of your body has been built up to a point that it stops breaking down, the growth stops and your body rests in a new position.
That is - of course - until it begins to break down again.
When this happens, the process repeats and instead continuing to grow, an equilibrium is reached where your body is growing and breaking down - building and burning - in equal measure over the course of time.
Where building and burning are the same, your body stays the same.
This is the equilibrium point, the middle path, that your body is trying to reach.
Where there is nothing breaking down and there is nothing more left to build, where you can rest at a perfect constant because everything has been brought into alignment.

Doing allows us to actually move towards what we want, staying alive by bringing things together and holding them in place, turning our subjective thoughts into objective reality and maintaining it, through physical action.
Our bodies are complex machines that require an input of energy.
As your body moves, energy is constantly being spent so you need to keep taking energy in.
However, energy can be taken in, brought together, and bound up much faster than it can be can be spent, broken apart, and released, and so our bodies respond to being broken down and burning energy, by building up and growing.
When something breaks us down, we build up against it, overcorrecting so that we can withstand the things that break us apart and we do not burn completely to ash, but stay alive and grow, even as we constantly break apart.
We build up what is useful, and burn away everything else, until we reach a point where we can rest in perfect alignment.
This is the fundamental model of all human action.

Each of voice represents a different basic emotion. These emotions are there to guide and protect you by predicting and preparing you for possible outcomes.
Negative emotions predict and prepare you for negative outcomes. There are four basic negative emotions:
Disgust, Anger, Sadness, and Fear.
Each basic emotion suggests that you act in particular ways.
Disgust (also called revulsion or contempt) suggest you should narrow your eyes, push your tongue forward, and lean away, covering your face.
These and other actions are meant to shield vulnerable parts like your eyes, mouth, ears, and nose.

But your old knowledge can become outdated as things change, it could turn out to have been false, or it can just be unhelpful in the current situation.
So you can also make sense of what you don’t know with Dream Thinking.
Discovering new knowledge by rearranging and reinterpreting information.
However, this takes time.
It’s a relatively slow process.
And often, you just don’t have time to really Think things through.
But that’s okay, because you can make a quick decision without having to Think, by listening instead, to your Feelings.
You use Feelings to make quick predictions about what to do next at the exact moment it is needed, so that you don’t have to Think.
At any given moment, you can make a quick prediction about the world based on the available information at face value.
This information is found by looking internally and externally.
Like looking at a self portrait, your emotions look internally to make quick predictions about your subjective self.
And like looking out of the window, your emotions look externally to make quick predictions about your objective body in the world.
In the board room of your Feelings, five key topics are being discussed constantly, all at the same time.
Novelty, Mess, Help, Risk, and Other people.
“Novelty” is new objects and items, but also new ideas and concepts.
“Mess” is the number of things are not in alignment, both physically and in your stories.
“Help” is the assistance of others to bring things together and your need for that assistance.
“Risk” is the possibility that many different things could happen.
And “Other people” are specifically the people you can see, hear, and communicate with.

Disgust makes a negative prediction: that Novelty will break apart what you are building and undermine your stories.
And so it suggest you shield vulnerable parts like your eyes, mouth, ears and nose from new objects and ideas.
Curiosity makes a positive prediction: that Novelty will bring together what you are building, and improve your stories.
And so it suggests you open up your senses like sight, taste, sound and smell to new objects and ideas.
Theres a discussion in the topic of Mess between Anger and Joy.
Anger makes a negative prediction: that Mess requires your immediate action and urgent attention.
And so it suggests you intimidate others and implement immediate force to bring the mess into alignment.
Joy makes a positive prediction: that Mess requires no more action and it has been acceptably brought together.
And so it suggests that you communicate strength, accomplishment, and the confidence to bring things together.
Theres a discussion on the topic of Help between Sadness and Happiness.
Sadness makes a negative predictions: that Help is needed now for immediate challenges and present troubles.
And so it suggests you communicate vulnerability, weakness, and surrender to get immediate assistance from others.
Happiness makes a positive prediction: that Help can be called upon later for potential challenges and future troubles.
And so it suggests you communicate vulnerability, safety, and submission to get assistance from others in the future.
Theres a discussion on the topic of Risk between Fear and Excitement.
Fear makes a negative prediction: that Risk may bring traumatic experiences, and harmful information.
And so it suggests you enable greater awareness and control of the immediate situation because many negative things could happen.
Excitement makes a positive prediction: that Risk may bring pleasurable experiences, and useful information.
And so it suggests you enable greater awareness and control of the immediate situation because many positive things could happen.
All these discussions and all these suggestions are constantly being made across the table, all at the same time.

Sometimes the best way to make a prediction is to have a look at the predictions other people have made and then use their predictions to know what to prepare for.
Your Feelings allow you to do this by acting as signals that you transmit and receive to and from the people around you.
This so that you can quickly communicate with others to predict and prepare for possible outcomes without having to spend time talking, articulating, arguing, or thinking.
So in the board room of your feelings there is a chairman.
And the chairman looks internally at the suggestions that come from the emotions around the table.
But also looks externally at the emotions that are being communicated by the other people around you through their actions.
The chairman listens to all of these voices making suggestions all at the same time, internally and externally, and the suggestions that come through the loudest are the ones that are put into place.
Changes are made to your body, based on the loudest suggestions, to prepare for the outcomes that all of these emotions have collectively predicted.
This happens without any thought and so we usually don’t know the reason we feel a certain way.
The signals we are sending and receiving through the way our feelings cause us to act are often a mystery to us.
And so emotions are mystery signals that you transmit and receive to communicate instantly with others without having to think.
A FUNDAMENTAL MODEL OF HUMAN EMOTION.

Emotions are there to guide and protect us by predicting and preparing our bodies for possible outcomes without having to spend time thinking about it.
Negative emotions prepare us for negative outcomes that break things apart and Positive emotions prepare us for positive outcomes that bring things together.
Like in a board room, discussions are had between the emotions, and suggestions are made about what to prepare for.
Disgust and Curiosity make predictions about the positive and negative outcomes of Novelty,
Anger and Joy make predictions about the positive and negative outcomes of Mess,
Happiness and Sadness make predictions about the positive and negative outcomes of Help,
Fear and Excitement make predictions about the positive and negative outcomes of Risk,
and the chairman looks at these suggestions along with the suggestions that come from the emotions of the other people around us, and prepares the body for the predicted outcomes.
Feelings are mystery signals that we use to communicate with the people around us, transmitting and receiving the predictions made by our emotions by changing our actions and noticing the actions of others.
We do this quickly, instantly, and constantly, without having to think.
This is the fundamental model of all human emotion.

Your thoughts tell you which direction to go by moving your body towards what you expect in the future.
Your body tells your emotions what is happening, with internal information about your self and external information about your body in the world.
Your emotions then show you predictions and suggestions about what to do next by changing your body to prepare for possible outcomes.
And your body shows you which actions are appropriate by making overcorrections when things begin to break apart.
Show and Tell.
But what’s complicated about understanding yourself and others is that you can only see a small part of it.
Like an ice-berg floating in the water, the greater part of you is hidden and cannot be seen directly.
As an ice-berg floats, sometimes more is revealed, sometimes less.
But the majority is always hidden under the water.
The only thing we can see in others is what they do.
The rest is hidden.
Your objective body is visible but your subjective self is hidden from others.
Your conscious thoughts are based on stories that are hidden in your subconscious.
And your emotions are mystery signals that are hidden from your conscious thinking.
This is the fundamental model of how human beings work.
This framework is fixed.
However, your stories, actions, and emotions are not fixed.
What you think, do, and feel is infinitely variable and you are unique.
Like a colouring book, the lines are already set.
But you can fill in the lines with an infinite number of different colours.
And now you have an understanding of the big picture of how human beings work, you have a choice about what those colours are going to be.
Are you going to bring things together into Perfect Alignment?
Or are you going to break things apart into a Dead Mess?
